Recipe: Loaded Beef Burger Stack with Caramelised Onions & Melted Cheese

Ingredients (serves 4)
• 4 cooked beef burgers
• 4 burger buns, toasted
• 2 onions, thinly sliced
• 1 tablespoon butter
• 1 teaspoon brown sugar
• 4 slices mature cheddar or your favourite cheese
• 4 lettuce leaves
• 2 tomatoes, sliced
• 4 tablespoons burger sauce or mayonnaise
• Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Method
Melt the butter in a frying pan and cook the onions slowly over low heat for ten to fifteen minutes until soft and golden. Add the brown sugar and cook for another couple of minutes until sticky and caramelised.

Place the hot burgers on a tray, top each with a slice of cheese, and grill for a minute until melted.

To assemble, spread burger sauce or mayonnaise on each bun base, then layer with lettuce, tomato, the cheesy burger, and a spoonful of caramelised onions. Finish with the top bun and a little seasoning.

Serve with chips or coleslaw for a crowd-pleasing, restaurant-style burger night at home — juicy, rich, and full of flavour.
