Recipe: Smoky Texas Beef Burger with Crispy Onions & BBQ Sauce

Ingredients (serves 4)
• 4 Texas beef burgers
• 4 burger buns, toasted
• 1 large onion, thinly sliced
• 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
• 4 slices smoked cheese or mature cheddar
• 4 tablespoons smoky BBQ sauce
• 4 lettuce leaves
• 1 large tomato, sliced
• Handful of crispy onions
• 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
• Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Method
Heat the oil in a frying pan and cook the sliced onions over a medium heat for eight to ten minutes until soft and lightly golden. Stir through the smoked paprika and a pinch of seasoning for extra smoky flavour.

Cook the Texas beef burgers according to pack instructions until piping hot and nicely charred on the outside. Top each burger with a slice of smoked cheese during the final minute of cooking and allow to melt.

To assemble, spread BBQ sauce onto the toasted bun bases, then layer with lettuce, tomato, the cheesy Texas burger, smoky onions, and a handful of crispy onions for added crunch. Finish with the top bun and serve immediately.

Perfect with seasoned fries, corn on the cob, or creamy slaw for a proper Texas-style burger night packed with smoky, rich flavour.
